DK Metcalf was the star of the show at the 2019 NFL Combine held in Indianapolis, Indiana.  DK finished his third year at Ole Miss as a wide receiver.  Metcalf caught the eye of many NFL scouts as his numbers at the combine were astounding from any position.  The Combine hosted Metcalf for workouts on Saturday, along with other 2019 NFL hopefuls.  Here, he proved to be the most athletic wide receiver at the combine.  His  numbers are as follows:

40 yard dash time: 4.33 seconds

Bench Press: 27 reps at 225 lbs

Vertical Jump: 40.5 inches

Broad Jump: 11.2 feet

Body Fat: 1.9%

These numbers have not been seen at the Combine in a long time.  The last wide receiver to put up identical numbers was Julio Jones.  As he is one of the best wide receivers currently playing in the NFL, Metcalf should use him as a role model for play and technique.  When MEtcalf was asked about his athletic and football ability, he replied, “They haven’t met me yet.”  Metcalf shows great confidence in his playing and athletic ability.

Metcalf was compared to the likes of Jim Brown by Raiders head coach Jon Gruden.  This is a great praise for the up and coming wide receiver, as Jim Brown is one of the best football players of all time.

DK Metcalf had played three years at Ole Miss, but was healthy for only one full season.  During that season, he put up 7 touchdowns and 646 yards on 39 receptions.  His third year was cut short by a neck injury, where he played 7 games.  Metcalf stated that he should not have even been at the Combine due to the injury, but wanted to prove to everyone that he had what it takes to be an NFL wide receiver.  With his stats from the Combine, he will be the apple of many teams’ eye when it comes to the draft.  Metcalf brought his draft stock up with his Combine performance, now being projected to be drafted with the ninth-overall pick.  Only time will tell where Metcalf will go, but football fans long await his arrival.
